Wrth nodi Diwrnod Shw’mae Su’mae heddiw (15 Hydref), mae Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf yn cyhoeddi partneriaeth newydd sbon gyda’r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol, Helo Blod, Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Rhondda Cynon Taf ac Ymbweru Bro fel rhan o waddol yr Eisteddfod a gynhaliwyd yn yr ardal eleni.

Mae’r cynllun yn gyfle i ddathlu’r Gymraeg ymysg busnesau a chwmnïau yn nalgylch yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yn ystod y flwyddyn hyd at yr Eisteddfod, ynghyd â’r cyfnod yn dilyn yr ŵyl ei hun.

Mae’n gyfle hefyd i ddiolch i fusnesau a chwmnïau’r ardal am eu cefnogaeth a rhoi ffocws i’r hyn y gall y fenter iaith leol ei chynnig i’r sector preifat er mwyn annog rhagor o ddefnydd o’r Gymraeg.

Meddai Osian Rowlands, Prif Weithredwr Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf, “Roedd yr Eisteddfod eleni ymysg y goreuon ers blynyddoedd lawer, ac roedd tref Pontypridd a’r ardal gyfan yn rhan enfawr o’i llwyddiant.

“Cafodd pawb a ddaeth i’r ardal groeso ardderchog gan fusnesau a chwmnïau ar hyd a lled y dalgylch. Rydyn ni’n awyddus i ddathlu hyn drwy lansio’r cynllun gwobrau busnes cyntaf yng Nghymru i ddefnyddio’r Eisteddfod fel y sbardun i annog rhagor o ddefnydd o’r Gymraeg yn y sector preifat.

“Diolch i’r holl bartneriaid am eu hawydd i fod yn rhan o’r cynllun sy’n rhan o waddol Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Rhondda Cynon Taf eleni.”

Dywedodd Mark Drakeford, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Gyllid a’r Gymraeg, “Pwrpas diwrnod Shw’mae Su’mae yw annog pawb i ddefnyddio pa Gymraeg bynnag sydd ganddyn nhw. Dyma pam mod i’n falch o gyflwyno’r gwobrau newydd yma sy’n dathlu awydd busnesau ardal Eisteddfod 2024 i ddefnyddio’r Gymraeg yn ystod yr ŵyl, ac ers hynny.”

Ychwanegodd Betsan Moses, Prif Weithredwr yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol, “Rydyn ni’n falch iawn o fod yn rhan o’r prosiect yma i ddathlu busnesau lleol yn ardal Rhondda Cynon Taf. Mae sicrhau gwaddol i’r Eisteddfod yn hanfodol bwysig, ac rydyn ni’n ddiolchgar iawn i’r fenter iaith am yr holl waith a’u hawydd er mwyn sicrhau rhagor o gyfleoedd i’r Gymraeg yn lleol yn dilyn yr ŵyl.

“Rydyn ni hefyd yn falch iawn o’r cyfle i ddiolch i fusnesau a chwmnïau ar draws yr ardal am eu cefnogaeth ac am fod yn rhan hanfodol o lwyddiant y brifwyl eleni.”

Mae’r gwobrau wedi’u rhannu i bum categori:

• Defnydd o’r Gymraeg: gwobr i fusnes neu gwmni sydd wedi datblygu’u defnydd o’r Gymraeg a chreu cyfleoedd i staff a chwsmeriaid i ddefnyddio ein hiaith
• Defnydd gweladwy o’r Gymraeg: gwobr i fusnes neu gwmni a wnaeth ddefnydd creadigol o’r Gymraeg yn y cyfnod hyd at, yn ystod ac yn dilyn yr Eisteddfod
• Gwobr arbennig: cyfle i wobrwyo clwstwr o fusnesau sy’n cydweithio neu sydd ar un safle a ddangosodd gefnogaeth i’r Eisteddfod a’r Gymraeg
• Gwobr diolch lleol: gwobr arbennig wedi’i chyflwyno gan wirfoddolwyr lleol i ddiolch i fusnes neu gwmni a fu’n gefnogol o’r gwaith trefnu a chodi arian yn ystod y cyfnod hyd at yr Eisteddfod.
• Gwobr Croeso i’r ŵyl: cyfle i’r rheini sy’n byw y tu allan i ddalgylch yr Eisteddfod i enwebu busnes neu gwmni a ddangosodd groeso arbennig i Eisteddfodwyr yn ystod wythnos yr ŵyl

Mae’r manylion i gyd ar wefan y fenter iaith, https://menteriaith.cymru/enwebu-busnes-2024/. Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer enwebiadau yw dydd Gwener 8 Tachwedd, a chyhoeddir y rhestr fer ddydd Llun 18 Tachwedd, i nodi 100 diwrnod ers Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Bydd y gwobrau’n cael eu cyflwyno mewn seremoni frecwast arbennig yn y Lido ym Mharc Ynysangharad, Pontypridd, lleoliad Maes yr Eisteddfod eleni, fore Iau 5 Rhagfyr.

As part of the Diwrnod Shw’mae Su’mae celebrations today (15 October), Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf announced a brand new partnership with the National Eisteddfod, Helo Blod, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Ymbweru Bro as part of the Eisteddfod’s legacy following this year’s successful festival in the area.

The awards celebrate the Welsh language among businesses and companies in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area, during the year leading up to the Eisteddfod, together with the period following the festival itself.

They’re also a chance to thank local businesses for their support and the awards also focus on what the local language initiative can offer the private sector to encourage and help them use more Cymraeg in the future.

Osian Rowlands, Chief Executive of Menter Iaith Rhondda Cynon Taf, said, “This year’s Eisteddfod was one of the best for many years, and Pontypridd town and the whole area were a huge part of its success.

“Everyone who came to the area had such a warm croeso from businesses across the region, and we’re keen to celebrate this welcome and the effect it had on our language by launching the first business awards in Wales, using the Eisteddfod legacy to encourage businesses to have the confidence to use a litle more Cymraeg following the festival.  My thanks to all our partners for getting involved in this brand new initiative.

Mark Drakeford, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Welsh Language, said, “The purpose of Diwrnod Shw’mae Su’mae is to encourage everyone to use whatever Welsh they have. I’m proud to be part of these brand new awards, celebrating the how local businesses in Rhondda Cynon Taf enthusiastically used their Cymraeg during the festival and following the event.”

Betsan Moses, National Eisteddfod Chief Executive, added, “We’re very proud to be part of this project celebrating local businesses in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area. Creating a legacy for the Eisteddfod locally is vitally important, and we’re grateful to the Menter Iaith for their work and desire to celebrate Cymraeg locally following the festival.

“We’re also pleased to have the chance to thank businesses and companies across the area for their support and for being an essential part of the success of this year’s event.”

The awards are divided into five categories:

• Use of Welsh: an award for a business or company that has developed their use of Welsh and created opportunities for staff and customers to use our language
• Visible use of Welsh: an award for a business or company that made creative use of Welsh in the period leading up to, during and following the Eisteddfod
• Special award: an award for a cluster of businesses working together or on the same site that have shown support for the Eisteddfod and Welsh
• Local Diolch award: a special award presented by local volunteers to thank a business or company who supported the organisers and fundraisers during the period leading up to the Eisteddfod
• Croeso i’r ŵyl award: a chance for those who live outside the area to nominate a business or company that showed a special welcome to Eisteddfod visitors during festival week

All the details are on the Menter Iaith’s website, , https://menteriaith.cymru/enwebu-busnes-2024/. The closing date for nominations is Friday 8 November, and the shortlist will be published on Monday 18 November, to mark 100 days since the Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod.

The awards will be presented at a special breakfast ceremony at the Lido in Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd, the location of this year’s Maes yr Eisteddfod, on the morning of Thursday 5 December.
